Good morning, brothers and sisters in Christ. I am addressing you in this sermon today to speak about the importance of keeping our faith in Christ during all seasons of life. Life can throw us unexpected twists and turns, and it is during these challenging seasons that our faith is truly tested. It is easy to have faith when life is going smoothly, but it is in the storms of life that our faith is truly revealed.
The Bible reminds us in Ecclesiastes 3:1 that "To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven." We have different seasons in our lives – seasons of joy, seasons of sorrow, seasons of abundance, and seasons of lack. These seasons often bring different emotions, experiences, and trials, but amidst them all, we must remember to keep our faith in Christ.
When we face trials and tribulations, it is natural to question God's plan and wonder why He allows these difficulties to come our way. However, it is essential to understand that our faith is not based on our circumstances but on the unchanging character of God. In Hebrews 13:8, it states, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." Our faith should be grounded in the unwavering truth that Christ is with us, no matter the season we find ourselves in.
During seasons of joy and abundance, it is easy for us to become complacent in our faith. We may rely on our own abilities, resources, and achievements without acknowledging God's role in our lives. However, it is important to recognize that every good thing comes from God. In James 1:17, it says, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning." Our faith in Christ should be the anchor that reminds us to give glory to God and steward His blessings wisely.
On the other hand, seasons of sorrow and lack can be incredibly challenging to navigate. These are the times when our faith is tested the most. It is during these dark and difficult seasons that we may be tempted to lose hope, question God's goodness, or even abandon our faith altogether. However, we must remember that Christ is our refuge and strength, even in the midst of pain. In Psalm 46:1, it says, "God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble."
During seasons of sorrow and lack, we must cling tightly to our faith in Christ. It is in these moments that we can experience His grace, comfort, and provision in ways we may never have encountered before. Our faith in Christ becomes the light that guides us through the darkness, the hope that sustains us when all seems lost.
No matter what season we find ourselves in, whether it be a season of joy or sorrow, abundance or lack, let us remember to keep our faith in Christ. Let us hold fast to the promises of God and trust in His unfailing love. As Paul writes inRomans 8:38-39, "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Lastly ; we must remember that our faith in Christ is not conditional on our circumstances but on the unchanging nature of God. May we stand firm in our faith, rooted in the truth that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Let us trust in Him and rely on His strength, His guidance, and His love in every season of our lives. Amen.
