Before the compound stirs.
Before children gather.
A fire is already burning.
This January, we joyfully recognize Ruth Nayiga as our Volunteer of the Month—the woman whose hands keep God’s Village fed, and whose heart turns ordinary meals into sacred moments.
To our children, she is not called by her full name.
She is simply known as “Aunt.”
And in that name lives trust, respect, and love.
🔥 What Looks Like Cooking Is Holy Work
Smoke rises from the kitchen.
Pots begin to simmer.
Firewood crackles beneath steady hands.
What looks like simple cooking is, in truth, a ministry of devotion.
Ruth prepares meals every single day for the children of God’s Village and the volunteers who serve alongside them. Every stir is layered with care. Every portion served is filled with dignity. Every meal is prepared with the understanding that food is not just nourishment—it is love made visible.
The work is hot.
The hours are long.
Yet her heart remains warm.
🍴 More Than Food—It’s a Ministry of Presence
Ruth doesn’t just cook.
She raises children through the kitchen.
She teaches them how to wash, peel, stir, and serve.
She shows them patience at the fire and responsibility in preparation.
She teaches respect—how to listen, how to wait, how to work together.
From the smoky corners of the kitchen, Ruth passes down life skills and values—quietly shaping the next generation.
Sometimes, the deepest lessons are not taught in classrooms, but beside a pot, with sleeves rolled up and love leading the way.
🌱 Feeding Bodies, Shaping Hearts
She notices the shy child who lingers near the doorway.
She makes sure the smallest ones are served.
She gives a little extra to the growing child who worked hard that day.
In her care, no one is forgotten.
Each meal becomes a reminder: you are seen, you are valued, you belong.
🔥 When Supplies Are Few, Faith Still Stirs
There are days when food stretches thin.
Days when firewood is wet.
Days when pots are few and children are many.
But even then, Ruth stands steady—smiling, stirring, believing.
Because she knows this is holy work.
And she is part of something eternal.
🚶♀️ From Luwero to God’s Village—A Journey of Love
Ruth travels from Luwero District, approximately 120–140 kilometers, to serve faithfully at God’s Village.
That distance is not small.
But love does not measure service in kilometers.
She comes because she believes in these children.
She comes because she believes in this calling.
🙌 Honoring the Hands That Serve in Secret
As we close the month of January, we pause to honor Ruth Nayiga—the woman behind the smoke, the fire, and the faithful meals that sustain a family.
She reminds us that ministry isn’t always loud.
Sometimes, it’s a pot on the fire.
A child learning to cook.
A quiet prayer whispered through rising steam.
We are deeply grateful for her unwavering heart, her joyful spirit, and her daily service to the children and volunteers of God’s Village.
Because behind every meal…
is an “Aunt” who showed up before dawn.
