Brenda Nakanwagi left the busy city life of Kampala and answered a different calling—serving vulnerable children at God's Village. As a Grade 1 teacher and caregiver, she helps shape young lives through education, encouragement, and daily care. This month, we celebrate her faithful service and the impact she is making in the lives of children in Uganda.
Volunteer of the Month — April 2026: Honoring Mama Prossy Ssewankambo
Honoring a Life of Quiet Impact — Mama Prossy Ssewankambo
At God’s Village, impact is not only measured in numbers or programs—
it is seen in the quiet, consistent lives that carry this mission forward every single day.
This April, we pause to recognize one of those lives.
Mama Prossy Ssewankambo.
🌿 A Presence That Shapes the Day
Step into one of the classrooms at Vangrace Academy, and you will quickly notice something beyond the lessons on the chalkboard.
You will notice presence.
Not rushed.
Not distant.
But steady, attentive, and deeply invested.
Mama Prossy stands before the children not just as a teacher,
but as someone who understands that every child carries a story—and a future worth nurturing.
Whether guiding a lesson at the front of the class or gently helping a child hold a pencil correctly,
her work is marked by patience and intentional care.
📚 Teaching That Goes Beyond the Lesson
In a typical day, learning here is not limited to reading and writing.
It is:
Helping a child understand their first words
Sitting beside one who is struggling and refusing to leave them behind
Repeating a lesson until confidence replaces uncertainty
There are moments where a child hesitates…
and Mama Prossy leans in—not just to correct, but to encourage.
Because here, education is not only about information—
it is about building confidence, dignity, and belief in what each child can become.
❤️ The Unseen Moments That Matter Most
Some of the most powerful work does not happen in front of the class.
It happens in the quiet spaces.
A child unsure of how to write a word.
A small hand being guided step by step.
A moment of correction turned into encouragement.
These are the places where transformation begins.
And it is in these unseen, everyday moments that Mama Prossy continues to pour out her life—
not for recognition, but for the future of the children she serves.
🌱 A Reflection of the Mission
Her work reflects what God’s Village is truly about.
“God’s Village is more than just a home — it’s our ministry haven where rescued children are loved, nurtured, and raised in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Here, every lesson, every laugh, and every prayer shapes tomorrow’s hope.”
And within that, Vangrace Academy continues to stand as a place of growth:
“Vangrace Academy is more than just a school—it’s the place where our rescued children are nurtured, educated, and raised with dignity, so they too can dream, learn, and become everything God designed them to be.”
Mama Prossy lives this mission daily.
🌟 Why This Recognition Matters
This recognition is not about a single moment.
It is about consistency.
It is about faithfulness.
It is about showing up—again and again—when it matters most.
Because behind every child learning to read…
behind every exercise book filled…
behind every small step forward—
there is someone who chose to stay, to teach, and to care.
🌿 Looking Ahead
As we continue through this season, we do so with gratitude for lives like Mama Prossy’s.
Lives that remind us that true impact is not always loud.
Sometimes, it is found in:
a classroom
a patient voice
a guiding hand
and a heart committed to raising the next generation
With gratitude,
Pastor Ivan Ssewankambo

🌿📘 VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH — MARCH 2026
A Heart That Gives Back
At God’s Village, some stories quietly come full circle.
This month, we are honored to recognize Fatia Fortunate Ssewankambo as our Volunteer of the Month.
Known to many as Fatia Namugga, she is part of the God’s Village family—a place she proudly calls home.
Fatia is currently in her second year pursuing a Law degree at Uganda Christian University—a journey shaped by dedication, discipline, and a growing vision for her future.
But what makes this moment especially meaningful is not only where she is going…
it is what she chooses to do when she comes back home.
Whenever Fatia returns to God’s Village, she comes with one request:
“Dad, I would like to volunteer teaching.”
And faithfully, she steps into the classroom at Vangrace Academy, teaching:
Social Studies
Christian Religious Education (C.R.E)
from Grade 4 to Grade 7.
She stands before the children not just as a teacher…
but as someone who understands their journey.
With patience, joy, and a genuine love for learning, she pours into them—
not because she has to…
but because she carries a heart that remembers and gives back.
At God’s Village—our ministry haven—
this is what Rescue. Nurture. Raise. truly looks like.
A life once nurtured… now nurturing others.
A child once guided… now guiding others.
And in that quiet classroom, something powerful happens:
Hope multiplies.
Fatia’s story is not just about education.
It is about transformation, purpose, and the beauty of a life growing into what God designed it to be.
And today, we celebrate her—not only for what she is becoming…
but for what she is already giving.
With gratitude,
Pastor Ivan Ssewankambo

🌿 Celebrating Our Volunteer of the Month: Joan Atuheire
Volunteer Teaching and Child Development in Uganda
Rescue. Nurture. Raise.
Wow — what an awesome God we serve.
At Vangrace Compassion Ministries, our mission to Rescue, Nurture, and Raise vulnerable children is not sustained by buildings or programs alone — it is carried forward by hearts. And one of those hearts belongs to Joan Atuheire.
This season, we are honored to celebrate Joan once again as our Volunteer of the Month.
A Mother’s Heart in the Classroom
Joan is a devoted mother of three, and that nurturing spirit flows naturally into everything she does at Vangrace Academy. She teaches our Grade 1 children with patience, gentleness, and consistency — laying foundational stones in both education and character.
In her classroom, learning is not rushed. It is intentional.
Each child is seen.
Each child is guided.
Each child is valued.
For many of our rescued and vulnerable children, the classroom is more than a place of study — it is a place of stability. Joan helps create that stability.
Beyond Books: Healing Through Music
But Joan’s impact does not end at the chalkboard.
She often gathers the children for songs — joyful, faith-filled, uplifting songs that replace sorrow with hope. Through music, she helps them release burdens they may not yet know how to express.
In moments when young hearts carry silent pain, a song becomes healing.
Her presence brings lightness.
Her smile brings reassurance.
Her voice brings encouragement.
A Quiet but Powerful Impact
Joan serves across multiple ministry areas with humility and faithfulness. She does not seek attention — she seeks impact.
Her life reflects what Vangrace Compassion Ministries stands for:
Rescue the hurting.
Nurture with compassion.
Raise with dignity and purpose.
And because of volunteers like Joan, children at God’s Village are not just surviving — they are growing.
Thank You, Joan
Joan Atuheire is more than a volunteer. She is a pillar in our child development programs and a steady hand in shaping tomorrow’s leaders.
We thank God for her.
We honor her.
We celebrate her.
May the Lord continue to strengthen and bless her for the seeds she sows into the lives of these children.

A Story of Grace & Redemption — Geoffrey’s Journey
Some stories begin where hope seems impossible.
Geoffrey’s life began in vulnerability. At just seven months old, he was found abandoned near a garbage pit—left without protection, voice, or certainty of survival. His life could have ended before it truly began.
But God had another plan.
During child protection efforts in the community, Geoffrey was rescued and received into care. One of the earliest moments we remember is seeing him held in the arms of Mama Prossy Ssewankambo—a simple image, yet one that marked the turning point from abandonment to belonging.
Those early days were not easy. They carried the weight of neglect that many children face silently. Yet surrounded by consistent love, prayer, nourishment, and safety, Geoffrey began to change.
He grew stronger.
He learned to trust.
He learned to smile again.
Today, as Geoffrey prepares to turn 10 years old on February 18, he is healthy, joyful, and full of life. He goes to school, plays freely, and is being raised with dignity and purpose at God’s Village.
Looking at him now, it is hard to imagine how his story began—but that is the power of love in action.
Geoffrey’s life reflects the heart of our mission:
Rescue. Nurture. Raise.
He is living proof that when a child is given love, safety, and faith, the future can be rewritten.
What an awesome God we serve—the Father of the fatherless—who turns abandoned beginnings into hopeful tomorrows.
Ruth Nayiga: Behind the Smoke, a Family Is Fed
Before the compound stirs.
Before children gather.
A fire is already burning.
This January, we joyfully recognize Ruth Nayiga as our Volunteer of the Month—the woman whose hands keep God’s Village fed, and whose heart turns ordinary meals into sacred moments.
To our children, she is not called by her full name.
She is simply known as “Aunt.”
And in that name lives trust, respect, and love.
🔥 What Looks Like Cooking Is Holy Work
Smoke rises from the kitchen.
Pots begin to simmer.
Firewood crackles beneath steady hands.
What looks like simple cooking is, in truth, a ministry of devotion.
Ruth prepares meals every single day for the children of God’s Village and the volunteers who serve alongside them. Every stir is layered with care. Every portion served is filled with dignity. Every meal is prepared with the understanding that food is not just nourishment—it is love made visible.
The work is hot.
The hours are long.
Yet her heart remains warm.
🍴 More Than Food—It’s a Ministry of Presence
Ruth doesn’t just cook.
She raises children through the kitchen.
She teaches them how to wash, peel, stir, and serve.
She shows them patience at the fire and responsibility in preparation.
She teaches respect—how to listen, how to wait, how to work together.
From the smoky corners of the kitchen, Ruth passes down life skills and values—quietly shaping the next generation.
Sometimes, the deepest lessons are not taught in classrooms, but beside a pot, with sleeves rolled up and love leading the way.
🌱 Feeding Bodies, Shaping Hearts
She notices the shy child who lingers near the doorway.
She makes sure the smallest ones are served.
She gives a little extra to the growing child who worked hard that day.
In her care, no one is forgotten.
Each meal becomes a reminder: you are seen, you are valued, you belong.
🔥 When Supplies Are Few, Faith Still Stirs
There are days when food stretches thin.
Days when firewood is wet.
Days when pots are few and children are many.
But even then, Ruth stands steady—smiling, stirring, believing.
Because she knows this is holy work.
And she is part of something eternal.
🚶♀️ From Luwero to God’s Village—A Journey of Love
Ruth travels from Luwero District, approximately 120–140 kilometers, to serve faithfully at God’s Village.
That distance is not small.
But love does not measure service in kilometers.
She comes because she believes in these children.
She comes because she believes in this calling.
🙌 Honoring the Hands That Serve in Secret
As we close the month of January, we pause to honor Ruth Nayiga—the woman behind the smoke, the fire, and the faithful meals that sustain a family.
She reminds us that ministry isn’t always loud.
Sometimes, it’s a pot on the fire.
A child learning to cook.
A quiet prayer whispered through rising steam.
We are deeply grateful for her unwavering heart, her joyful spirit, and her daily service to the children and volunteers of God’s Village.
Because behind every meal…
is an “Aunt” who showed up before dawn.

Volunteer Spotlight: John Martin’s Journey from Tororo to God’s Village
From Tororo to Buwama — A Journey of Skill and Service
John Martin, 23-year-old metal fabrication volunteer from Tororo, serving at God’s Village Uganda.
Meet Olowo John Martin, a 23-year-old young man whose journey from Tororo District in eastern Uganda to Buwama – Bunjakko Island in Mpigi District is nothing short of inspiring.
The road distance between Tororo and God’s Village is approximately 248 km (about 154 miles) — a long and challenging journey across Uganda. Yet John Martin made it, moved by a heart to serve and to make a difference.
A Young Man with a Craft and a Calling
John Martin holds a Certificate in Metal Fabrication and Welding, a practical skill he uses every day at Vangrace Compassion Ministries – God’s Village. He volunteers his time and talent to build, repair, and improve ministry structures — from desks and doors to iron stands, gates, and other metal projects that support daily life at the Village.
John Martin welding metal during a fabrication project at God’s Village, Vangrace Compassion Ministries.
But his service doesn’t stop there. Beyond welding, John Martin shares his knowledge with the children, teaching them hands-on skills that spark creativity and build confidence. He is helping raise a generation of young people who can work with their hands, dream with their hearts, and grow in dignity.
A Servant at Heart
John Martin has become deeply involved in several development projects around God’s Village — offering help wherever it’s needed. Whether it’s constructing, fixing, or mentoring, he serves with quiet strength and dedication.
His spirit of volunteerism reminds us that true ministry is not measured by titles but by hands willing to serve.
Why We Celebrate John Martin
Distance & sacrifice: Traveling nearly 250 km from Tororo to Buwama shows his deep commitment.
Skilled & teaching: Using his certificate in metal fabrication, he builds and teaches — investing in the next generation.
Heart for service: From welding to mentoring, John Martin embodies the spirit of Rescue. Nurture. Raise.
Kingdom impact: His work leaves lasting marks — not only on metal but on hearts.
A Word of Gratitude
John Martin, thank you for your selfless service, your craftsmanship, and your love for our children. You remind us that the work of our hands can glorify God when done with humility and excellence.
Your journey from Tororo to God’s Village is a journey of faith, skill, and heart — and we honour you as Volunteer of the Month for November 2025.

Volunteer Spotlight: George’s Dedicated Journey from Mbale
Sometimes ministry begins with one courageous step — a step taken in faith, across miles, into a place of purpose.
This month, we are honoured to recognise Anguria George as our Volunteer of the Month at Vangrace Academy & God’s Village. George comes all the way from Mbale District in eastern Uganda — roughly 226–230 km (≈140–143 miles) from our home in Mpigi District. Geodatos+2Around the World 360+2 Despite the distance, George answered the call to serve children in need and brought his gifts to our ministry.
From Mbale to God’s Village
George left his familiar surroundings in Mbale and journeyed to our ministry family because he believed in the vision of “Rescue. Nurture. Raise.” at God’s Village. At Vangrace Academy — more than just a school, it’s the place where our rescued children are nurtured, educated, and raised with dignity, so they too can dream, learn, and become everything God designed them to be — George serves as both caregiver and science teacher, a dual role that requires heart and hands.
He steps into the classroom and into the children’s lives with equal care. He doesn’t just teach formulas or facts; he invests in young hearts and minds.
Teaching Science. Embracing Care. Transforming Lives.
In his role as science educator, George brings discovery and wonder into everyday learning — helping children ask questions like “Why?” and “What if?” and guiding them toward answers. But his service exceeds academics. As a caregiver, he is present for the children’s needs: helping them feel safe, loved and seen.
Whether it’s explaining a scientific principle or giving a comforting word to a child unsure of their place — George embodies the blend of knowledge and compassion our ministry holds dear.
Why George’s Service Matters
Distance travelled & sacrifice made: Coming from Mbale to Mpigi is not just a physical move — it is a heart-commitment.
Dual ministry approach: George doesn’t keep his role limited to the classroom. He engages in caregiving, bringing holistic support to our children.
Kingdom-minded mission: His contribution aligns with our enduring call at God’s Village to raise children who will become everything God designed them to be.
A Word of Gratitude & Encouragement
George, we celebrate you. Your yes is rare. Your dedication is deeply meaningful. Because of you, our rescued children are not just learning science — they are growing in confidence, purpose, and hope.
On behalf of the entire God’s Village family, we say: thank you. Keep going. Your work matters. Others will rise, inspired by the standard you’ve set.
In this Season of service — wave by wave — may the Lord empower you, sustain you, and honour the gift you are to our ministry and to the children.
You are making a difference. And because of you, the future is brighter.

Wanyana Dorothy: A Creative Heart, A Joyful Yes
Sometimes, ministry starts just next door—with a willing heart, a joyful spirit, and a quiet “yes.”
This September, we are honored to celebrate Wanyana Dorothy, a radiant and dedicated teacher from a village just 15 kilometers away from God’s Village, as our Volunteer of the Month. She may live close by—but her impact stretches far across the hearts and minds of the children she teaches.
Every day, Dorothy brings more than materials into the classroom—she brings color, confidence, and care. Her calling isn't loud, but it’s powerful. And it’s changing lives, one child at a time.
From Local Neighbor to Creative Mentor
Dorothy could have chosen a different path. But instead, she responded to the quiet nudge of God’s call—and offered her gifts to the children of Vangrace Academy. With sleeves rolled up and her Vangrace shirt on, she steps into the classroom as both a Ministry Caregiver and Art & Crafts Teacher.
She leads our children into imagination. Into expression. Into healing.
Through simple materials—paper, string, crayons, clay—Dorothy opens doors for self-worth, teamwork, and joy. She doesn’t just teach art. She awakens hidden gifts in children who once doubted they had anything to offer.
In her hands, creativity becomes ministry.
A Happy Soul Fit for God’s Children
Dorothy’s smile lights up the classroom before she even speaks. She teaches gently, corrects kindly, and listens deeply.
The chalkboard behind her might be covered in scribbles and symbols, but to her, every line represents growth. Every color added by a child is a step toward healing. Every craft project is a moment of breakthrough.
She teaches children to believe in what they create—and in who they are becoming.
A Neighbor. A Servant. A Creative Force for Good.
As we close out the month of September, we celebrate Dorothy’s quiet strength, her joyful commitment, and her unshakable heart for God’s work.
She may only live 15 kilometers away. But every day, her footsteps carry compassion, creativity, and the message: You were made for more.
Her classroom is her altar. Her smile, a gift. Her service, a legacy in motion.
Just 15 kilometers away… yet her daily “yes” brings imagination, healing, and hope to a new generation of children.
Because sometimes, the greatest miracles begin with paper, paint, and a teacher who believes.

🍲 Volunteer of the Month | August Spotlight
Nabirye Jackline: Behind Every Plate Is a Prayer
Smoke curls gently from the cooking fire. A large pot simmers. And in the midst of it all stands a woman whose love stirs deeper than the porridge she prepares.
This month, we joyfully recognize Nabirye Jackline, a humble yet mighty woman from Bugiri District (approximately 80–90 kilometers from God’s Village), as our Volunteer of the Month for August.
Jackline may not serve from a pulpit or stage. She serves from the hearth—from behind the steam, beneath the shelter, in the early morning hours when others are still waking. Yet, what she gives is just as sacred.
💛 A Calling Cooked Over Fire and Faith
Jackline's ministry begins with firewood and water. She wakes before the children. She lights the flames. She prepares meals for both our children and the volunteers who serve them. But her work is more than cooking—it’s worship.
She is the woman in the yellow beanie, seen smiling and focused in the photos above. What looks like simple porridge is, in truth, a bowlful of prayer. Every stir is layered with care. Every cup poured is filled with dignity.
The work is hot. The hours long. Yet her heart remains warm.
🍴 More Than Food—It’s a Ministry of Presence
Jackline doesn’t just feed hungry stomachs. She nourishes hearts.
She notices the shy child who lingers last in line. She gives a little extra to the growing boy who just played netball. She prepares every meal knowing that sometimes, love is most deeply felt not in words, but in what’s served—faithfully, quietly, every single day.
From the smoky corners of our outdoor kitchen, Jackline shows us what true ministry looks like: sleeves rolled up, joy overflowing, and prayers whispered through rising steam.
🔥 When Days Stretch Thin, Grace Still Flows
There are days when food is scarce. Days when the firewood is wet. Days when pots are few and children are many. But even in those moments, Jackline stands strong. Smiling. Stirring. Believing.
Because she knows—this is holy work. And she is part of something eternal.
🙌 Honoring the Hands That Serve in Secret
As we close the month of August, we pause to celebrate Nabirye Jackline—not just for what she does, but for who she is.
She reminds us all that ministry isn’t always loud.
Sometimes, it’s a hot meal.
A plastic cup filled.
A quiet prayer said before dawn.
We are deeply grateful for her unwavering heart, her joyful spirit, and her commitment to serve the children and volunteers of God's Village.

🏅 July Sportline: Only 15 Kilometers Away—But Her Love Reaches Miles Deeper
Sometimes, you don’t have to travel far to walk fully into your calling.
For Nakyejjwe Hellen, her journey of faith didn’t begin on a bus or a long road—it began with an open heart and a simple “yes” to God, just 15 kilometers from God’s Village. But the power of that “yes” is still echoing in the lives of children she touches every single day.
Born and raised in the nearby community outside our ministry, Hellen could have easily chosen another path. But she saw the need—the orphaned, abandoned, and vulnerable children who needed more than just shelter or food. They needed someone to believe in them. To teach them. To cheer for them. And Hellen answered.
🏐 More Than a Teacher — A Champion for Every Child
By title, Hellen serves as both Ministry Caregiver and Netball Coach at God’s Village. But to our children, she’s so much more.
On weekdays, you’ll find her guiding lessons, gently correcting handwriting, helping children read with confidence and hope. And when the school bell rings and the sun lowers just enough to cool the field, Hellen laces her shoes, gathers the netball, and becomes a coach, motivator, and mother figure—all in one.
She doesn't just teach our girls how to play. She teaches them how to believe.
With every practice session, she’s building more than athletic skills. She’s nurturing resilience, teamwork, leadership, and confidence in young hearts that once struggled to smile. She reminds every child—especially every girl—that they are strong, gifted, and made for more.
💛 A Happy Soul Fit for God’s Children
Hellen serves with a joy that is infectious. Whether she’s teaching in the classroom, cheering from the sidelines, or sitting beside a child in tears, her laughter, kindness, and gentle spirit create a safe space where children flourish.
Her life is a daily offering—of time, love, and compassion.
She may live close by, but what she’s doing echoes far. Because when a heart says yes to God, even the smallest village can become the starting point of a great move of love.
🙌 A Neighbor. A Servant. A Hero.
We honor Nakyejjwe Hellen as one of our ministry’s unsung heroes. She didn’t need to travel across districts to prove her devotion—she simply walked the short road from her home into the heart of God’s call.
And every day since, she’s been walking faithfully, joyfully—pouring into the lives of children who now smile, run, and dream because of her.
📍 Just 15 kilometers away… yet a world of impact unfolds through one woman’s faith, laughter, and loving leadership.
🕊️ Because sometimes, those closest to us become the greatest gifts to those we serve.
🌾 June Spotlight: Joyce Adongo’s Courageous Call to Serve
Hope Alive: Real Stories, Real Impact
At the heart of every movement of God, you’ll often find someone behind the scenes—serving quietly, faithfully, and without seeking praise. For us at God’s Village, that someone this month is Joyce Adongo.
Born and raised in Sangai Village, Ochelakur Parish, Bululu Subcounty, Joyce answered a call that few would dare. With nothing but conviction in her heart and purpose in her spirit, she journeyed over 9hours from Kalaki District to join our mission—bringing with her not just helping hands, but a heart ready to be poured out for others.
Walking the Road of Compassion
The road from her village to God’s Village spans hundreds of kilometers—but the greater journey has been one of obedience and selflessness.
As a caregiver and teacher at Vangrace Academy, Joyce has become a constant source of encouragement, structure, and spiritual strength for the children. She may not carry a title that turns heads in the world—but in our village, she is a daily answer to prayer.
Children who once walked through trauma now walk into classrooms where they’re seen, celebrated, and loved. And many of those healing steps are possible because of Joyce’s gentle persistence.
A Life Poured Out
Joyce didn’t come for recognition. In fact, if you ask her, she’d likely deflect the spotlight altogether. But we believe in honoring those who walk in the footsteps of Jesus—especially when they walk so far to do so.
Her mornings begin with prayer. Her days are full of little hands and learning hearts. Her evenings often end in quiet reflection, sometimes tears, and always thanksgiving.
This is what volunteerism with purpose looks like: not a checklist, but a calling.
A Ripple of Hope
Every child Joyce serves becomes a ripple of hope in a community once marked by brokenness. Her care goes beyond academics—she imparts worth. She helps restore identity. She reminds each child: you matter to God—and you matter to us.
And so, as June closes, we are humbled to name Joyce Adongo our Volunteer of the Month. Not because of what she gave up—but because of how powerfully she has given of herself.
We are an eligible 501(c)(3) USA Nonprofit Organization. All donations are tax-exempt and help support our mission to rescue, nurture, and raise vulnerable children in Uganda through Vangrace Compassion Ministries. 🌾 Celebrating Our Volunteer of the Month: Julius Mwase
From Buyende to God's Village—A Journey of Service That Speaks Louder Than Words
At Vangrace Compassion Ministries, we believe every seed of service planted in love blooms into something eternal. This month, we are honored to spotlight a humble giant among us—Julius Mwase, our Volunteer of the Month, whose quiet strength and tireless service in the gardens have become a lifeline to the very heart of our mission.
Julius journeyed from Himula Kasita Village, Buyende District, deep in Eastern Uganda—leaving behind familiar grounds, comfort, and personal ambitions—to serve at God’s Village, our ministry haven in Central Uganda. His dedication to our child development programs is most clearly seen not on a stage or in front of a crowd—but in the soil, among rows of corn and cassava, where he volunteers with joy and determination.
📸 As seen in the photos above, Julius often works under the sun with sleeves rolled and a bright smile beaming. Whether it’s tilling land, watering young crops, or harvesting food that will feed our children, Julius gives his all—because he believes that no child should go hungry under his watch.
“I came to help because I see what God is doing here… and I want to be part of it,” Julius shared with Pastor Ivan Ssewankambo during one of their mornings in the garden.
His story echoes the heartbeat of VCM: to be the hands and feet of Jesus—feeding, nurturing, and loving the unprivileged as our own. Through his selfless work, he ensures that our children not only have food on their plates but also experience what it means to be loved by someone who chose to care.
💬 A Garden of Hope—But Not Enough
While Julius’ faithful efforts help sustain our corn garden, the truth is—we are still waiting for harvest. And even when it comes, this small plot cannot meet all the nutritional needs of the many children in our care.
Every plate we serve is a miracle of grace—and often, a story of faith in motion. We remain deeply thankful for what God has provided, even as we navigate daily challenges:
📦 shelves that sometimes run empty,
🍲 meals that stretch further than they should,
🙏 and prayers for provision that rise from our dining hall daily.
So no, we don’t have it all. But by God’s grace—and through the hands of people like Julius—we keep going.
✨ Why Julius Matters to Our Mission
Volunteers like Julius help make our vision possible. While some serve in classrooms and others behind the scenes, Julius serves where life begins—in the soil. His faithfulness reminds us that every child fed is a testament to someone choosing to care, choosing to stay, choosing to sow even when the harvest is far off.
To Julius, thank you. You remind us that the work is worth it. And that love often wears work boots and carries a hoe.
🌱 From the fields of Buyende to the fields of VCM, your faith has made a difference.
🔔 Stay tuned as we continue to highlight the amazing men and women who help us rescue, nurture, and raise children across Uganda.

✨ A 9-Hour Journey of Love: Deborah’s Walk of Faith to Serve God’s Children ✨
In the quiet village of Abola South, nestled deep in Eastern Uganda’s Kalaki District, a young woman felt the unmistakable stirring of God’s voice. It wasn’t a loud command or a dramatic sign—it was a whisper in her spirit, a divine nudge calling her into something greater than herself. Her name is Apako Deborah, and her response to that call would lead her on a journey that stretched not just across 432 kilometers of rugged roads—but straight into the heart of God’s mission.
It would take nearly 9 hours by road to reach her destination—‘God’s Village’, the home and hope center of Vangrace Compassion Ministries. But Deborah wasn’t counting miles. She was following purpose.
She left behind her personal ambitions, comfort zones, and familiar faces. With nothing but faith in her heart and compassion in her hands, she traveled hundreds of kilometers—not for a paycheck, not for applause, but to pour her life into the most tender and vulnerable among us: orphaned, abandoned, and hurting children.
💛 A Teacher. A Caregiver. A Mother in Ministry.
At Vangrace Academy, Deborah doesn’t just teach—she disciples. Her blackboard may be covered in syllables and chalk, but her classroom is filled with something far more powerful: unwavering love. Every lesson she teaches is laced with patience. Every child she tends to is seen, known, and cherished.
In a world where many seek to climb higher, Deborah chose to kneel lower—to the level of a child. To look them in the eye and remind them that they matter. That they are smart. That they are loved.
And that God has not forgotten them.
🌍 From Tragedy to Triumph: A Testament of Hope
Many of the children she serves have walked through unthinkable stories—stories of abandonment, grief, war, and survival. But when Deborah steps into their lives, something shifts. Healing begins. Smiles return. Futures take shape. She becomes more than a teacher—she becomes proof that God sends help in human form.
Her journey is a living testimony that when we say yes to God, miracles happen—not just to us, but through us.
🙌 A Story That Calls Us Deeper
