Brenda Nakanwagi: Choosing Service Over Comfort
Every month, we take time to recognize one of the remarkable individuals who helps make life at God's Village possible.
For May 2026, we are honored to recognize Brenda Nakanwagi.
Brenda's story is one of commitment, humility, and a heart willing to serve wherever God leads.
Before joining us at God's Village, Brenda lived in Kampala, Uganda's capital city—a busy urban environment filled with opportunities, conveniences, and a very different pace of life.
Today, however, she serves several kilometers away from that city life here at God's Village in rural Mpigi District.
Moving from an urban setting to a rural ministry environment is not always easy. It requires adjustment, sacrifice, and a willingness to embrace a different way of living. Yet Brenda continues to serve faithfully with joy and dedication.
At Vangrace Academy, Brenda teaches our Grade 1 learners, helping lay the educational foundation upon which future success is built. Every day she patiently guides young minds as they learn to read, write, count, and grow in confidence.
Beyond the classroom, Brenda also serves as a caregiver, helping provide encouragement, supervision, and support to children who have come from difficult backgrounds.
Many of the children at God's Village have experienced loss, abandonment, neglect, or hardship. Because of this, they need more than education alone. They need caring adults who can walk alongside them, encourage them, and remind them that they are loved and valued.
Brenda helps provide that daily encouragement.
Whether standing before a classroom chalkboard teaching mathematics, helping a child understand a lesson, or simply sharing a smile and a kind word, her service helps create an environment where children can learn, heal, and thrive.
Her willingness to leave behind familiar surroundings and serve where she is needed is a beautiful example of faith in action.
We thank God for Brenda and for the role she plays in helping us Rescue, Nurture, and Raise the children entrusted to our care.
