From Buyende to God's Village—A Journey of Service That Speaks Louder Than Words
At Vangrace Compassion Ministries, we believe every seed of service planted in love blooms into something eternal. This month, we are honored to spotlight a humble giant among us—Julius Mwase, our Volunteer of the Month, whose quiet strength and tireless service in the gardens have become a lifeline to the very heart of our mission.
Julius journeyed from Himula Kasita Village, Buyende District, deep in Eastern Uganda—leaving behind familiar grounds, comfort, and personal ambitions—to serve at God’s Village, our ministry haven in Central Uganda. His dedication to our child development programs is most clearly seen not on a stage or in front of a crowd—but in the soil, among rows of corn and cassava, where he volunteers with joy and determination.
📸 As seen in the photos above, Julius often works under the sun with sleeves rolled and a bright smile beaming. Whether it’s tilling land, watering young crops, or harvesting food that will feed our children, Julius gives his all—because he believes that no child should go hungry under his watch.
“I came to help because I see what God is doing here… and I want to be part of it,” Julius shared with Pastor Ivan Ssewankambo during one of their mornings in the garden.
His story echoes the heartbeat of VCM: to be the hands and feet of Jesus—feeding, nurturing, and loving the unprivileged as our own. Through his selfless work, he ensures that our children not only have food on their plates but also experience what it means to be loved by someone who chose to care.
💬 A Garden of Hope—But Not Enough
While Julius’ faithful efforts help sustain our corn garden, the truth is—we are still waiting for harvest. And even when it comes, this small plot cannot meet all the nutritional needs of the many children in our care.
Every plate we serve is a miracle of grace—and often, a story of faith in motion. We remain deeply thankful for what God has provided, even as we navigate daily challenges:
📦 shelves that sometimes run empty,
🍲 meals that stretch further than they should,
🙏 and prayers for provision that rise from our dining hall daily.
So no, we don’t have it all. But by God’s grace—and through the hands of people like Julius—we keep going.
✨ Why Julius Matters to Our Mission
Volunteers like Julius help make our vision possible. While some serve in classrooms and others behind the scenes, Julius serves where life begins—in the soil. His faithfulness reminds us that every child fed is a testament to someone choosing to care, choosing to stay, choosing to sow even when the harvest is far off.
To Julius, thank you. You remind us that the work is worth it. And that love often wears work boots and carries a hoe.
🌱 From the fields of Buyende to the fields of VCM, your faith has made a difference.
