Hope Alive: Real Stories, Real Impact
At the heart of every movement of God, you’ll often find someone behind the scenes—serving quietly, faithfully, and without seeking praise. For us at God’s Village, that someone this month is Joyce Adongo.
Born and raised in Sangai Village, Ochelakur Parish, Bululu Subcounty, Joyce answered a call that few would dare. With nothing but conviction in her heart and purpose in her spirit, she journeyed over 9hours from Kalaki District to join our mission—bringing with her not just helping hands, but a heart ready to be poured out for others.
Walking the Road of Compassion
The road from her village to God’s Village spans hundreds of kilometers—but the greater journey has been one of obedience and selflessness.
As a caregiver and teacher at Vangrace Academy, Joyce has become a constant source of encouragement, structure, and spiritual strength for the children. She may not carry a title that turns heads in the world—but in our village, she is a daily answer to prayer.
Children who once walked through trauma now walk into classrooms where they’re seen, celebrated, and loved. And many of those healing steps are possible because of Joyce’s gentle persistence.
A Life Poured Out
Joyce didn’t come for recognition. In fact, if you ask her, she’d likely deflect the spotlight altogether. But we believe in honoring those who walk in the footsteps of Jesus—especially when they walk so far to do so.
Her mornings begin with prayer. Her days are full of little hands and learning hearts. Her evenings often end in quiet reflection, sometimes tears, and always thanksgiving.
This is what volunteerism with purpose looks like: not a checklist, but a calling.
A Ripple of Hope
Every child Joyce serves becomes a ripple of hope in a community once marked by brokenness. Her care goes beyond academics—she imparts worth. She helps restore identity. She reminds each child: you matter to God—and you matter to us.
And so, as June closes, we are humbled to name Joyce Adongo our Volunteer of the Month. Not because of what she gave up—but because of how powerfully she has given of herself.
