At Vangrace Compassion Ministries, our mission to Rescue, Nurture, and Raise vulnerable children is not sustained by buildings or programs alone — it is carried forward by hearts. And one of those hearts belongs to Joan Atuheire.
This season, we are honored to celebrate Joan once again as our Volunteer of the Month.
A Mother’s Heart in the Classroom
Joan is a devoted mother of three, and that nurturing spirit flows naturally into everything she does at Vangrace Academy. She teaches our Grade 1 children with patience, gentleness, and consistency — laying foundational stones in both education and character.
In her classroom, learning is not rushed. It is intentional.
Each child is seen.
Each child is guided.
Each child is valued.
For many of our rescued and vulnerable children, the classroom is more than a place of study — it is a place of stability. Joan helps create that stability.
Beyond Books: Healing Through Music
But Joan’s impact does not end at the chalkboard.
She often gathers the children for songs — joyful, faith-filled, uplifting songs that replace sorrow with hope. Through music, she helps them release burdens they may not yet know how to express.
In moments when young hearts carry silent pain, a song becomes healing.
Her presence brings lightness.
Her smile brings reassurance.
Her voice brings encouragement.
A Quiet but Powerful Impact
Joan serves across multiple ministry areas with humility and faithfulness. She does not seek attention — she seeks impact.
